I love Felicity’s imaginative challenges. If you are looking for something to expand your horizons or you just love to write, please go check out her NEW Friday Flash Challenge page. I’m super excited about it! Thank you Felicity!

Medical care and insurance policy allowances are so utterly screwed up in this country. It’s ridiculous that someone goes into surgery thinking one thing and two months later find out something else. Did you know that ER doctors and anesthesiologist DO NOT have to take insurance? Seriously?!? They can choose to not take insurance, the two doctors that you have NO choice over, and the hospital is apparently not obliged to tell you before a surgery that HEY the people we use to knock your butt out, they aren’t in your network of doctors. So come time to get paid, they send you a bill that is nearly triple your original in-network bill, saying well you know you used us and it’s not our fault your insurance won’t take the claim. EFFING REALLY!!!!!

Drunken Shanagans

For those of you starving for some of my typical writing…

We went to his office party, the first time he took me out to meet his friends and co-workers. He told me, “I don’t want to see you without a drink to your lips, got that?” I nodded and did as I was told. All night, I had something. I started off with Jack and Coke, but after a few, I switch to straight Crown. He didn’t know I could hold my liquor like I did. He’d never seen me drink more than a weak daiquiri.

By the end of the night, I was still under my own power, but everything was rather blurry and a straight line was unmanageable. He took what he called the long way back to his place as I giggled and talked about nonsense. When we stopped, we were out in the middle of no where. The first place we hooked up. I had a silly grin plastered to my face as I realized what he had in mind, but he never made a move. He just got out of the car and came over to my side.  Continue reading

The Hidden Duke Pt. 1

This is a story bouncing around. Let me know what you think so far, as always happy reading!

“Papa, the carriages are arrivin’!” Phoebe called as she ran down the hill toward the small cottage outlying the Duke’s vast farmlands. Silas had been dreading this day since he received word that the Duke would be returning to Northumberland. The boy had been sent to live at schools and with distant relatives until he was of age after the sudden deaths of his parents. From all accounts, he was smart, handsome, and very much a philanderer. He had tarnished many young women in his stays in both Oxford and Cambridge. Silas would be damned if he tried his ways with his Phoebe. Continue reading

Trove Thursday – “Intervening Fate” Excerpt

One of my favorite stories that is very personal to me. I love these characters. Let me know what you think. As always, happy reading!

“Oh my God, mom. Go home already,” Cadence complained as her mother rearranged Cadie’s closet drawers for a fifth time. “I’m only in Conway. It’s not like I moved to Illinois like Leann,” Cadence’s embarrassment came across as anger. Her new roommate, Amy, was politely trying to ignore Cadence’s mother fluttering around their room, occasionally moving some of Amy’s belongings, in the vain hope of not having to leave.
